The “Boot of Cortez” is the largest gold nugget in the Western Hemisphere!

 This nugget is 389.4 troy ounces. Shaped like a Spanish cowboy boot. Found with a metal detector in 1989 near the Arizona, Mexico border.

At owner's request this nugget's photo and details have been removed.

    As most gold is mined as very fine dust and tiny nuggets, the larger (over 1oz) nuggets are very rare! Actually they are as rare as large diamonds!
