The massive intraday drop of nearly 1000 points in the Dow Jones last week also saw significant volatility in currency markets which may presage a euro currency crisis. There is the risk that the sovereign debt crisis could lead to an international monetary crisis as investors lose faith in fiat currencies most of which are saddled with very significant debt levels. Gold’s debt free status and lack of counter party risk is making it an increasingly attractive diversification option – and this looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.

I’m pretty sure it was just a glitch in the system, or a mistype in bids because I don’t think in any way something like this was legitimate.
