Gold at New Record High Price
The gold price reached a new dollar record of $865.35/oz on 3rd January at the AM fix, breaking the previous record of $850/oz set on 21 January 1980.
A top gold market ‘insider’said: 'If you look at the inflation rate today and compare the value of gold to that of both equities and bond, you will realize that gold prices are not soaring quite that fast. Investors in the region and even in other parts of the globe think that it is sounder to invest in gold compared to shares, bonds or currencies, because of uncertainty on whether interest rates or inflation will increase.'
