Australian Gold Nugget

by oakley711

There is a fantastic gold nugget of high gold purity. This nugget cames from a very remote goldfield in Cape York which is in Northern Queensland, Australia. It is essentially the tropics, lots of grass, bugs and snakes – very tough prospecting. Even die-hard Australian detectorists seldom make it into that country. This nugget was found with the Minelab GP series detectors in the summer of 2004. Gold coming from this area is some of the purist Gold in the world! Nuggets this size are extremely rare & always command a premium of the common small nuggets!

Wow! I heard that a lump of pure gold the size of a matchbox can be flattened into a sheet the size of a tennis court. That nugget could probably cover a football field!

As most gold is mined as very fine dust and tiny nuggets, the larger (over 1oz) nuggets are very rare! Actually they are as rare as large diamonds!
